Comprehensive Curriculum

Recommended Software
Windows 10 and Microsoft 365

There are a minimum of 40 lessons per grade. Most lessons make use of an Office Suite, applied to suit the level of the learners. All the activities are done on the computer. There are Activities, Assessements and Assessment sheets, an annual learning plan as well as posters and finished examples. The activities are aligned with the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) of the Department of Education. The teacher’s guide includes software tips that explain how to carry out the instructions.

Our vision is that all learners in primary school have access to this curriculum and therefore we have made it very affordable. There is no monthly cost; there is no cost per computer. The school purchases a site license and renews this on an annual basis. The full price is only for first time users, any consecutive years you get 20% discount on the upgraded version.

The CS4A School Curriculum is aligned with international syllabi. Over and above the CS4A certification process, educators can contact their nearest centre for accredited international examinations and certifications.

Each unit has 13 activities, so there are 60 in total. Shapes and colours are practiced and we solve mazes and join the dots.

The pictures are popular with children, as they relate to nursery rhymes, playing on the beach, a playground, animals, and pizza.

Some of these will become favourites and may be used over and over again. All it takes is practice and the learners’ confidence will grow. Although most Grade R activities use Paint, the learners explore all the menu options and all the tools. Another drawing programme is introduced so some skills are transferred and more are learnt.

The fundamental skills of using a computer are learnt, using a pointing device in a GUI environment, as well as the basics for graphics manipulation.

ICDL

All grades in high school can be taught any of the 5 modules: Word-processing, Computer Essentials, Presentations, Spreadsheets, and Online Essentials. There is a Workbook per module.

Workbooks

The Grade 8 -12 Workbooks explain how to use the applications and contain lots of practical integrated exercises aligned with CAPS. They give clear explanations accompanied by screenshots.

There is one Workbook per module. The school can order a Workbook for each learner. Alternatively, the school can obtain a Workbook per PC, so that the learners in the different classes have access to the book.

The High School material differs from the Primary School in that the learners need to have access to a printed book. If the learners don’t have a text book then they would only have the instructions in the activity to work with and no software tips or explanation on how to do the various tasks in the activity, which is why we specify that a school purchase a textbook per computer, if not per learner.

Licence

The school will acquire a Single Site License Agreement. This includes one Workbook per module and a disk with all the activities, solutions and a whole range of free educational software and printable posters. Educators can also make use of the unlimited telephonic and email support.
